Fernando Alonso is pleased that Sebastian Vettel managed to qualify well in his last Grand Prix of his career.


In Abu Dhabi, the German driver qualified 9th.


Alonso admitted that the F-1 pilots really want Sebastian`s race weekend to pass without incident.


Yes, I was very happy! I won`t say that we tried to help him somehow, but everyone tried to follow him, looked in the mirrors when he was on a fast lap - I want him to have a smooth weekend.


Tomorrow he will start 9th, I will start 10th, and I think I will be softer with him at the start and on the first lap. I hope we both see the checkered flag, " Alonso said.
